Today we will tell you today is national what day. This day, originally known as the 2008 International Women’s Day, has been listed as the International Day of Rural Women since 2012.
International Day of Rural Women October 15
It was the United Nations that was behind it and its Secretary-General, Ban Ki-moon, delivered a message on the occasion of its launch:
” Women’s empowerment is crucial to eradicating hunger and poverty, depriving women of their rights and opportunities, and denying their children and societies a better future. for which the United Nations has recently launched a program to empower rural women and enhance food security. ”
Rural women play an essential and undeniable role in the rural economies of developing countries. In most of them, they participate in agricultural production, provide food, water and fuel for their homes. They do other work outside the farm to improve the standard of living of their families.
In addition, they are at the forefront of ensuring vital functions such as the education of children, the care of the sick and the elderly.
Recognizing and supporting them as such can be an extremely powerful lever of development. On the same theme, you can also visit the page dedicated to the World Day of Peasant Struggles , celebrated on 17 April.
