Angola National Flag
The national flag of Angola was first used in independence on November 11, 1975. It is divided horizontally into a red upper half and a lower black half. The red represents the blood shed by the Angolans during the struggles of independence; the other half black represents the continent of Africa. The cogwheel in the middle, with the long machete and the yellow star, represents the workers. The symbols of the flags were adopted while Angola had the Marxist government.
